The innovative curricula created by Dr. Matthew Daniels and Anthony Jones are an investment in future leaders who -- like Dr. King himself -- embody the unifying ideals of justice and compassion that were the driving engine of the civil rights movement in America.

Why It Matters Today

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message is not only part of our nation’s history — it is a vital framework for the world our students are growing up in today.

Young people are living in a time of extraordinary connection. They have access to more information, more ideas, and more voices than any generation before them. But with that access also comes division, hostility, misinformation, and the growing temptation to respond to conflict with anger instead of understanding.

The MLK K–12 Curriculum helps students engage with Dr. King’s principles in a way that is relevant, practical, and deeply needed. His teachings on nonviolence, justice, courage, conscience, and human dignity give students more than historical knowledge — they offer a way to think, lead, and live.

At its heart, this curriculum helps prepare students to become people who do not simply learn about change, but understand how to pursue it peacefully, wisely, and with respect for the dignity of every human being.

MLK Educational Initiative Launch

The MLK Educational Initiative was announced by the Martin Luther King Jr. Advisory Council of Georgia at Stone Mountain, Georgia, on the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination.

We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.
