ABOUT
GOOD OF ALL

Turning the principles of human dignity into education, leadership, and action.

"At the heart of these challenges is an assault on the dignity of the human person — regardless of who they are, what they believe, or how they differ from us."

Advancing Human Rights

Good of All exists to promote the most fundamental freedoms recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948.

Our work advances universal human rights through public education, scholarship, curriculum, leadership initiatives, and digital resources designed to help people understand the dignity and freedoms that belong to every person.

At the heart of Good of All is a simple but urgent belief: human dignity must be taught, protected, and carried forward for each generation.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights remains one of the most significant moral and legal documents in modern history. Adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, in the aftermath of World War II, the Declaration was created out of a shared international commitment to never again allow the devastation and dehumanization of that era to define the future.

The drafting process brought together leaders from different political, cultural, and religious backgrounds. Chaired by Eleanor Roosevelt, the Commission on Human Rights helped shape what is often called the “international bill of rights” — a common standard of dignity, freedom, and justice for all peoples and all nations.

About US.png

Our Vision

We strive to promote civility and respect for freedom of conscience by challenging the voices in America that publicly erode civility and show contempt for the views of others. We also seek to challenge regimes around the world that suppress dissent and freedom of conscience. We differ in our nationality, our religious convictions, our political affiliations and our ethnic heritage. But we are united in supporting a vision for society — both in America and around the world — that affirms human dignity.

Defending Dignity in a Divided World

The Mission

At Home

Public discourse has grown sharp, negative, and divisive. Conversations that honor the views and consciences of others are becoming harder to find — and too often, disagreement becomes attack.

Around the World

Regimes that suppress dissent and deny freedom of conscience continue to trample the basic rights of women, minorities, and political dissenters.

What's At Stake

At the heart of these challenges is an assault on the dignity of the human person — regardless of who they are, what they believe, or how they differ from us.

Our Response

Good of All exists to affirm our common humanity, promote civility, and defend freedom of conscience as essential to a free and humane society. We believe this work starts with how we treat one another — in our conversations, our communities, and our public life — and that a society which protects the dignity of every person is stronger, safer, and more free for all of us.

Our Founder

Dr. Matthew Daniels, J.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Matthew Daniels is the founder of Good of All, an international public education movement dedicated to promoting universal human rights in the Digital Age.

Raised in Spanish Harlem and educated in inner-city public schools in New York City, Dr. Daniels went on to receive a full scholarship to Dartmouth College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1985. He later received a Public Interest Law Scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania Law School, earning both his law degree and a Master’s in Public Administration. He was subsequently awarded a doctoral fellowship in American Politics at Brandeis University, where his work focused on judicial policymaking and the rule of law.

Before founding Good of All, Dr. Daniels launched an online video portal in partnership with venture capital specialist Sequoia Capital. That work helped shape his vision for using digital platforms to educate and engage a new generation around the principles of human dignity and universal rights.

Building from an initial base in South Korea, Good of All has launched academic programs on three continents and developed UniversalRights.com, a video platform where students from Good of All academic centers create videos that teach their peers the universal human rights principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Dr. Daniels currently serves as Distinguished University Professor of Law, Political Science, and Human Rights at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. His academic and professional work has included leadership and teaching roles connected to law, human rights, international affairs, digital culture, and business at institutions in the United States, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.
